Well. We are having a girl. Although we should be thrilled, the appointment went badly and our good news was shrouded by some confusing information.

I really didn't care what "team" we were on, aside from "team healthy." However, that might not be the case. Aerilyn has two soft markers for downs, from what we were told.

Hi ladies..I just need some advice I guess.

I am about 17 weeks and we found out yesterday that there is a 1 in 14 chance that the baby will have down syndrome.
This is just a crazy time.

They want to do an amniocentsis. Has anyone had one?? I just need a little friendly advice.

Oh we did find out the sex yesteday.

my midwife called me today and said that the blood tests i had done showed an elevated risk of down syndrome. has anyone else dealt with this?

they are sending me to get a detailed ultrasound with a genetic specialist and then will tell me if i need an amneosentesis.

she said not to worry but of course i am.

Today my OB office called me and told me that I tested positive for downs based on the screening tests that they did. I believe she said that there is a 1% chance & that she sees this commonly for women 35 & over that it is an automatic positive ( Read more... )
